"Half Dome, Clouds Rest and Beyond"
Dale Laitinen
$1,200

Dale Laitinen is best known for his highly designed paintings of the landscape. He lives and works in the rural northern California uplands of the Sierra Nevada He is drawn to the topography of exposed rock that manifests itself as light catching ranges of mountains and deep canyons. In a Laitinen work, one finds a unique blend of representation and abstraction that reveals clarity of form and shape. His subject interest not only takes him to open natural vistas but environments where water interacts with the landscape. Sometimes this means depicting the contemporary western landscape of dams, roadways, canals, and other such alterations of the landscape.

Minnesota born, but a resident of California most of his life, he is a graduate in Art of San Jose State University, and a signature member of the National Watercolor Society and Watercolor West. He has been a full-time artist since 1985. Laitinen’s articles and paintings have been published in The Artist’s Magazine, Watercolor Magic, The Splash series, and several other books. In addition to a full time painting schedule, he teaches workshops across the country. He travels widely teaching workshops and is a past juror for Watercolor West National Exhibition and other major shows.
